Where will you live?
Our homestay hosts are in a house or apartment located across many diverse neighborhoods in the Madison area, often 5-10 kilometers away from WESLI. Each homestay is on or near safe bus routes with frequent stops during weekdays, nights, and weekends.
Students take the Madison Metro Bus to and from school, which takes 25-50 minutes (a perfect time for listening to podcasts). This public transit runs very frequently and is safe for students at any age, and it is very popular among local students and adults for daily commuting.
Who will you live with?
The American families our students stay with include couples as well as individuals - both with or without children or pets. Many WESLI homestay hosts have looked after students for more than 15 years. Relationships between homestay hosts and students can last a lifetime.
How does it work?
Students choosing homestay accommodation should be prepared to interact with the family by participating in activities both inside the home and beyond in the local community. Your host family will regularly invite you to share in household responsibilities, join events, and explore the area. Rather than thinking of yourself as a guest, you are truly one of the family!
How much does it cost?
Our price per week for a junior student to enjoy a homestay is $315, which includes:
- Private bedroom
- All meals provided for Junior Students (daily breakfast, packed lunches, and dinner at home)
- Shared or private bathroom (depending on homestay placement)
- Free Wifi at home
- Access to all house facilities such as laundry, kitchen, yard, television, etc.
- Support for learning a new city, independence, and culture
