Where will you live?
Our homestay hosts are located across the Madison area, often 5-10 kilometers away from WESLI. Many students take the Madison Metro Bus to and from school; there are with frequent stops on weekdays, nights, and weekends. This public transit is very safe, convenient, and it is very popular among local students and adults for daily commuting. Biking is also a popular way to get around in Madison!
Who will you live with?
Our homestay hosts live in a house or apartment. The American family you stay with may be a couple or an individual, with or without children or pets, living in the many diverse neighborhoods in the Madison area.
Many WESLI homestay hosts have welcomed foreign students for more than 15 years. Relationships between homestay hosts and students can last a lifetime.
How does it work?
Students choosing homestay accommodation should be prepared to interact with their hosts by participating in activities and accepting invitations to community events. You will have opportunities to share in household responsibilities and explore the local area. You can also expect to run through any house rules in the homestay with your host in order to help everyone have a safe and pleasant stay. Rather than thinking of yourself as a guest, you are truly one of the family!

How much does it cost?
Homestay pricing is as follows:
- Single Full-Board (Meals Included*) Per Week: $265
- Single Room (No Meals Included) Per Week: $210
* Most meals are provided (food available for breakfast and packing your own lunches, and about 5 dinners per week).
Staying with a host family includes:
- Private bedroom
- Meals - depending on package chosen
- Shared or private bathroom (depending on homestay placement)
- Free Wifi at home
- Access to all house facilities such as laundry, kitchen, yard, television, etc.
- Support for learning a new city independence, and culture
