We are searching for a new member of our Teacher Pool (Part-Time), beginning for Spring Session 2024 and onward.

Job Description (Teacher Pool) - download document

The Wisconsin ESL Institute (WESLI) is searching for candidates for their teacher pool. Qualified applicants’ information and availability will be kept on file each session, and candidates may be offered courses as needed, based on enrollment and course coverage.

Teaching appointments at WESLI are made one working day before each session begins, after New Student Registration, and may change from session to session. Each session is 8 weeks.

The job of instructional staff members is to teach their assigned classes. They are not to arrive late to class, dismiss classes early, or cancel classes. All classes must be conducted in the building in your assigned room, unless you receive approval from a Director.

In connection with teaching, instructional staff members must prepare for classes and correct homework and tests as needed. Unlike many chain schools, WESLI does not provide teachers with a daily syllabus and a set of lesson plans. WESLI hires teachers who are able to work from a general syllabus and create their own pacing chart/calendar and lesson plans based on the outcome goals, adapting them if needed based on the students in the class that session. The Curriculum Director and Teacher Mentors can assist a new teacher as they prepare for a (new) class. This planning time, as well as time spent grading, is included in the teacher’s hourly pay rate for the course(s) assigned.

A teacher’s hourly pay rate ranges from $20/hour to $35/hour. This is dependent on teaching experience and qualifications. Teachers should at minimum hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or hold a TESOL/TEFL certificate. A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred, and required for teaching upper level academic courses at WESLI.
